Tuckeria POD, Brunskwick St

Description:
Reinventing a simple shipping container to become a versatile, transferable, food stall was the client brief.

Currently located in the Brunswick Street Mall, Fortitude Valley, the all inclusive food pod can be relocated anywhere in the city or beyond.

Being that the internal space was restrictive and a two-side opening, we knew our design needed to be compact, practical and to borrow space to make it bigger.

We added awnings to each side opening to create a street servery appeal, then added timber wrap-around screens to link the pod with the beautiful leopard trees providing a welcoming contrast between steel and flora.

We popped the roof and lifted it higher to give more sense of space internally whilst adding windows. The timber screens placed over these high windows allowed the container to be naturally ventilated naturally lit whilst creating a design appeal for the community.

I was very satisfied with the overall outcome of the project, especially the design aspects that were suggested by BA Architects that were not originally in the brief. BA Architects came up with many great design ideas that we hadn’t thought of and were incorporated into the final design of the home. I appreciated the level of detail and consideration BA Architects went to, especially the recommendations for specific sustainable materials and products, which created our Brisbane home.

Everyone who I dealt with was really on the ball. Bruno and Greg understood our needs in organising council approvals and certification on my behalf. That was great as it took everything off my hands. We would definitely consider completing another residential project with BA Architects.
